NADA x Brandon Tay: Pondok Irama

12-22 October 2017
Glass Atrium, National Museum of Singapore

In collaboration with visual/sound art duo, NADA, 'Pondok Irama' is our collective modern re-imagination of dancehalls and nightclubs in 1960s Singapore; from Bunga Tanjong at New World Park to Gay World's ronggeng bandstands. This interactive piece presents a curated ensemble where visitors can learn a series of dance moves to groove along to the music of NADA. By integrating songs and dances of the past with interactive technology, 'Pondok Irama' represents an experiential oxymoron that seeks to create both futuristic nostalgia and/or nostalgic future.
