Memorex for the Krakens" emerges from the manipulation of screen recordings of live simulations, featuring digital organisms that are crafted to embody the uncanny. Through the lens of game development and AI, this work delves into the question of how we perceive sentience, and ultimately how our understanding of what it means to be alive is constantly shifting and evolving. The result is a reflection of the uncanny in which the digital organisms, like the mythical kraken, are both familiar and unsettling, blurring the boundaries between the real and the simulated.
